Manualized Treatments for Insomnia, PTSD, and Specific Phobia

We have found that therapy can be a wonderful place for building insight and strengths, becoming more in touch with your identities, and understanding how your past and current contexts have played a role in your development. Manualized treatments are a subset of therapy approaches designed and extensively tested to target specific concerns within a set amount of time.

Manualized Treatments offered: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and Prolonged Exposure (PE)

Please note: We do not prescribe medications or sleep medications (our practice offers therapy and assessments only)

What therapy will look like:

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a proven treatment specifically designed for PTSD, effectively reducing symptoms. There are two versions: one includes exercises addressing avoidance of traumatic memories, while the other does not. Both are equally effective, so your preference will guide our choice. CPT is widely used with veterans and individuals with a history of trauma. We’ll work together to find the best fit for you.

  • CBT for Insomnia

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is an effective treatment for insomnia. It helps you identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors affecting your sleep. Success requires both therapy and a commitment to making lifestyle changes. Without this commitment, CBT-I’s effectiveness may decrease. While this involves significant effort, we’ll support you in building and maintaining the motivation to achieve lasting improvements.

  • Prolonged Exposure

Prolonged Exposure is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD and specific phobias. It helps you gradually confront trauma-related memories and feelings, leading to symptom improvement over time (such as reduction of nightmares, flashbacks, or avoidance of painful memories).

We’ll work at your pace, with 90-minute sessions to support your processing of difficult experiences.
